DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - The government has appointed National Board of Revenue (NBR) Member Barrister Mutasim Billah Farooqi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB).

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard, appointing Farooqi to the post on deputation.

Farooqi had been serving as NBR Member (Tax Legal and Enforcement, current charge) and was subsequently attached to the Ministry of Public Administration for further posting.

According to the notification, Farooqi, a Grade-2 official, has been appointed CEO of the Bangladesh Tourism Board under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

The appointment, made in the public interest, will come into effect immediately, the notification added.
