DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Panchagarh Zila Parisahd Administrator Touhidul Islam.

In a condolence message, the minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Touhidul Islam, senior joint convener of the Panchagarh District BNP, was a dedicated organiser committed to the ideals of nationalism, he said.
 
Through his organisational skills, political wisdom, and exemplary conduct, he helped transform the BNP into a popular political organisation in the region, he added.

Touhidul was deeply devoted to public service. As a result, the residents of the municipality elected him mayor of Panchagarh Municipality five times, he mentioned.

He was a true friend of the common people, said the minister, adding that Touhidul's death is an irreparable loss for the people of Panchagarh.

Touhidul Islam breathed his last at 10pm on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Medical University Hospital here at the age of 74.

He is survived by his wife, one son, four daughters, and numerous admirers and political colleagues.
