DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today showed former lawmakers Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin and Solaiman Salim arrested in a case lodged over the murder of BNP activist Mokbul Hossain.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as police produced the two former lawmakers before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the case. They were later sent back to jail.

According to the case details, on December 7, 2022, Harun-or-Rashid, Mehedi Hasan and Biplab Kamur of the Detective Branch (DB) raided the BNP Nayapaltan office and carried out vandalism. 

During the raid, they opened fire at BNP activists gathered around the office. The firing killed a BNP activist, Mokbul Hossain.

One Mahfuzur Rahman filed the case against 256 people, including Sheikh Hasina, in this connection on September 30, 2024.

Solaiman Salim was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on November 13, 2024, while Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin was arrested from Mohammadpur Monsurabad Housing area on January 20, 2025.
