RAJSHAHI, August 30, 2026 (BSS) - The leaders of Rajshahi Byabosayi Oikya Parishad (Business Unity Council) paid a courtesy call and held an exchange of views meeting with Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton.
The meeting was held at Nagar Bhaban this afternoon.
At that time, the leaders of the Business Unity Council expressed their commitment to stand by the RCC Administrator for the development of Rajshahi.
During the exchange of views, the business representatives raised issues including freeing footpaths from encroachment and various problems faced by different markets in the city.
The RCC Administrator assured them of quick resolution of the existing problems of the markets.
At that time, the RCC Administrator said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given me the responsibility to take this civic service institution forward.
I am carrying out that responsibility with sincerity. Everyone's cooperation is needed to develop this city and to beautify it further."
Initiatives must be taken to rehabilitate footpath traders to ensure unhindered movement of citizens.
Construction work of Shalbagan and Naodapara kitchen markets is progressing. Construction of another market in Lakshmipur has been completed.
Once the work of this market is completed, it will be easier for traders to conduct business.
He further said construction of a park for senior citizens, development of the Central Park and Zoo and Shaheed Zia Shishu Park, widening of the road from Golgafur to Fire Service intersection, construction of road from Alif Lam Bhata intersection to Kashiadanga, construction of playgrounds, construction of a modern slaughterhouse, modern waste management, along with various other new projects are being undertaken and implementation work is progressing.
Present at the exchange meeting were Rajshahi Business Unity Council President Harunur Rashid, General Secretary Farid Mamud Hasan, Vice-President Riaz Uddin Ahmed, Joint General Secretary ABM Monowar Sultan, and various other market associations.
