RANGPUR, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has said that the school feeding programme will be launched nationwide in the 2027 academic year. 
 
He said, "However, if any error is found in the results of the ongoing piloting programme, then the programme will be launched within the academic year 2027, if not at the beginning of that academic year." 
 
He said this in response to questions from journalists after visiting various projects of model schools built by trainees of the Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) in Rangpur on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Regarding the school feeding programme, the state minister said, "We will be able to start the school feeding programme in all schools across the country from the beginning of the 2027 school year." 
 
The school feeding programme is now being piloted again. So, it will be possible to start the programme based on the response to the piloting. 
 
“So far, we are getting a very good response to the piloting with positive reviews.” He said, adding that there is a workshop on this piloting programme in Dinajpur district on Monday. 
 
Regarding the launch of the programme in the 2027 academic year, the state minister said, "If it continues like this, Inshallah, We will start at the beginning of the year 2027.” 
 
When asked about the decrease in students in the country, Bobby Hajjaj said, it is not a headache if students increase or decrease. The headache is that every child goes to school and every child receives proper education.  

He said that every institution where it is possible to receive education, every institution should be able to provide proper education. This is the responsibility of the government to monitor. 
 
Regarding the role of the government, the state minister said, the responsibility of the government is to ensure that every citizen is getting services. 
 
“Therefore, where they are not getting them in any other modality, the government itself will start providing services if necessary,” he said. 
 
He further said that government primary schools are built on the basis of that principle, for the people who were not getting schools; the government itself has built primary schools. 
 
Bobby Hajjaj said that there will be no compromise over two issues: one is that every child should go to school and the second is that proper education should be provided in every school. 
 
Later, he attended a six-hour workshop for PTI trainees there, which lasted until 4 pm.
