KUSHTIA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian drugs and smuggled goods worth approximately Taka 29 lakh in separate raids along the Kushtia border.

Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commanding officer of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), confirmed the information through a press release on Saturday afternoon.

According to BGB, acting on specific intelligence, its personnel conducted separate operations on Friday and Saturday at different border areas under the jurisdiction of Kushtia Battalion. The seized items were recovered abandoned, with no one being arrested in connection with the recoveries.

During a raid at around 11am on Friday, BGB personnel from Kathuli Border Outpost (BOP) recovered two bottles of Indian liquor and two kilograms of cannabis from the Kathaltala Math area.

In another operation at around 12:40am on Saturday, troops from Thotarpara BOP recovered 1,000 Indian dexamethasone tablets, 550 cyproheptadine tablets, four bottles of Fairdil syrup and one bottle of Scaf syrup from the Pakuria Math area.

At around 3:30am the same day, personnel from Kajipur BOP conducted a raid in the Kajipur-Naopara Switch Gate area and recovered 400 bottles of Fairdil syrup and 7,600 dexamethasone tablets.

Meanwhile, at around 6am, troops from Pragpur BOP recovered 1,710 packets of Indian leaf cigarettes from the area near Gurer Para Jame Mosque.

The BGB estimated the total market value of the seized drugs and smuggled goods at Tk 2,885,450.

The border force said it has been conducting regular operations and maintaining heightened surveillance to prevent the infiltration of drugs and curb smuggling along the border. Such operations will continue in the future as part of efforts to strengthen border security and prevent drug trafficking and smuggling.
