MUNSHIGANJ, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS)- Vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway under Gozaria upazila in the district has returned to normal.
Md Alrazi Lyon, Sub-Divisional Engineer (SDE) of the Roads and Highways Department, told BSS that the repair work began last night after a hole developed on Asharichar Bridge. As a result, traffic pressure increased on the lane heading towards Dhaka.
The repair work was completed by 10am today, following which vehicles began moving normally on both the lanes of the bridge.
Md Babul Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hasara Highway Police Station, said vehicular movement resumed after 10am. Traffic pressure had been easing since morning, although it took some time for the situation’s return to normal movement after the long tailback.
At present, vehicles are moving at normal speed on the highway, he said.
Additional traffic police have been deployed at various points along the highway to prevent further congestion.
