DHAKA, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) has provided financial assistance to two Bangladeshi workers who returned home from South Korea after falling sick caused by a workplace accident.

BOESL Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Rashedul Haque handed over cheques for Taka 100,000 to Sharif Al Mim, who suffered an industrial accident resulting in loss of a limb, and Taka 50,000 to Abdal Mia at an event at BOESL conference room here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashedul Haque said the two workers, who had gone to South Korea for employment, returned home after suffering workplace accidents and physical illness.

They went to South Korea under the ongoing Employment Permit System (EPS) programme between the governments of Bangladesh and South Korea, he said.

After learning about their situation, BOESL stood beside them from a humanitarian perspective, Rashedul Haque said, adding that the BOESL has so far provided financial assistance to around 17 people in recent times.

Since the current Prime Minister always envisions a humane Bangladesh, he said, as part of realizing that dream of a humane Bangladesh, we have called these two brothers today and are supporting them financially.

“Ensuring not only financial assistance but also due respect and welfare of the remittance fighters is our responsibility,” Rashedul Haque said, assuring that he would take necessary initiatives for their treatment.

According to BOESL, under the government to government (G-2-G) arrangement between the governments of Bangladesh and South Korea, Bangladeshi workers have been traveling to South Korea since 2008, based on the needs of Korean employers in a transparent, orderly and determined process at relatively low cost and with high wages.

So far, a total of 38,059 Bangladeshi workers have travelled to South Korea through BOESL under the EPS programme.

BOESL said refundable security deposits are collected from EPS workers at a prescribed rate, with the advice of HRD Korea and approval of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment to ensure compliance with employment contract terms, South Korean laws and workplace regulations as well as their timely return home after completion of employment.

As part of that, BOESL has decided to return the refundable security deposits of Abdal Mia, who returned home due to illness, and Sharif Al Mim, who returned following an industrial accident in addition to providing them with financial assistance from its CSR fund.
