DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - Lt. Col. Md. Mahmudul Hasan has taken charge as Director (Operations and Maintenance) of Fire Service and Civil Defence, succeeding Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury. 

The charge handing over ceremony took place on March 29 last, with both officers formally handing over and assuming responsibilities.

As the new Director, Lt. Col. Mahmudul Hasan is expected to play a key role in strengthening the country’s fire safety, emergency response, and disaster management operations.

Commissioned in the Infantry Corps of the Bangladesh Army, Lt. Col. Mahmudul Hasan holds a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). 

He is also a graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College.

Officials expressed hope that his professional expertise and leadership will further enhance the operational efficiency of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
