DHAKA, Sep 8, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered authorities to formally request Singapore to seize immovable properties and freeze bank accounts held by former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and individuals and entities associated with him.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the order following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Deputy Director and investigation team head Md Moshiur Rahman submitted the application. ACC Public Relations Department Deputy Director Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the order.

The application said a nine-member joint task force comprising the ACC, police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and National Board of Revenue (NBR) is investigating allegations that Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his associates siphoned off a large amount of money abroad.

The investigation identified eight bank accounts, a company directorship and high-value properties in Singapore linked to the former minister and his associates. 

Official documents show Saifuzzaman and his wife Rukmila Zaman jointly hold savings and investment accounts in Singapore.
