DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today urged students to keep their homes, educational institutions and surroundings clean and free of stagnant water to help prevent dengue.

“Everyone has to be aware of dengue prevention. We must ensure that no water remains stagnant in or around our homes. Regular cleanliness can significantly help prevent the spread of dengue,” he said.

The Prime Minister said this when a group of students from Kalmakanda Girls High School in Netrakona met him at his office premises at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon, said his Deputy Press Secretary Md. Suzauddhowla (Sujon Mahmud).

The Prime Minister also advised the students to engage in regular sports alongside their studies and to be caring towards animals and other living creatures.

Urging the students to make cleanliness a habit beginning at home, Tarique Rahman said, “Keep yourselves and your surroundings clean, and make your family members, friends and neighbours aware as well. Your small initiatives can help build a clean and healthy society.” 

During the interaction, the Prime Minister asked the students about their studies, including which classes they were in, how they were progressing and what they wanted to become in the future.

Highlighting the importance of sports and physical exercise for their physical and mental development, he said students should not focus only on textbooks but also make time for regular games and exercise.

“You have to use your time wisely and work to become good human beings,” he said.

The prime minister also called for compassion towards animals, saying no one should be cruel to them. “Caring for helpless and voiceless animals around us reflects the values of a humane society,” he said.

A total of 42 students from classes VI to X came to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today to observe a parliamentary session. Five teachers and two members of the school’s governing committee accompanied them.

At one point during their visit to observe the session, the students got an opportunity to meet the prime minister.

The students expressed joy and excitement at getting the chance to speak directly with Tarique Rahman and pledged to follow his advice in their own lives and spread the messages among their families, schoolmates and people in their community.
