DMP files 1,422 cases for traffic rule violations in Dhaka

DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,422 cases against traffic law violators during drives conducted across different areas of the capital.

According to a DMP press release, the drive was carried out on Monday in various parts of Dhaka to ensure road discipline and curb violations.

Among the divisions, Traffic-Gulshan recorded the highest number of cases at 464, including 32 buses, 7 trucks, 22 covered vans, 39 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 211 motorcycles. Traffic-Mirpur followed with 242 cases, including 21 buses, 4 trucks, 9 covered vans, 32 CNGs and 118 motorcycles. Traffic-Uttara filed 222 cases, while Traffic-Lalbagh recorded 155 cases.

In other areas, Traffic-Tejgaon filed 112 cases, Traffic-Motijheel 100 cases, Traffic-Ramna 73 cases, and Traffic-Wari  54 cases.

As part of the enforcement drive, authorities also dumped 399 vehicles and wrecked 121 others for violating traffic rules.

The DMP officials said the drive is part of an ongoing effort to restore discipline on Dhaka’s roads and reduce traffic congestion and accidents.

The Traffic Division has vowed to continue such drives across the capital to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
