Chinese Ambassador calls on State Minister for Sports

DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today (Tuesday) paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque at his office at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

During the meeting, the state minister welcomed the Chinese ambassador to the ministry. He said the prime minister has a deep interest in sports and is giving the sector utmost importance.

He said Prime Minister has given equal importance to all sports such as cricket and football. As part of this, the sports allowance and sports card program for players was inaugurated Monday last.

Aminul said, “We want to develop relations between the two countries through sports and cultural exchanges. There are opportunities for China and Bangladesh to work together in sports such as volleyball, archery, badminton, and shooting. We need China's cooperation in training coaches and trainers for various sports.”  

He also invited the Chinese national men's football team to play a friendship match with Bangladesh and called for investment in the sports institute. The Chinese Ambassador applauded the initiative to include players in the monthly allowance. 

He said that the issue of friendly matches with the Chinese men's football team would be considered with importance. The Chinese ambassador also expressed his optimism for the investment in Bangladesh's youth training centers and sports industry.
