DHAKA, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan today directed those involved in mosquito control to work with utmost sincerity and commitment.
He also said Dhaka city's mosquito control programme needs to be further strengthened.
The administrator made the directives while speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day training programme on Integrated Vector Management (IVM) and Basic Pest Control Techniques organised by the DNCC Health Department at Nagar Bhaban here.
Speaking as the chief guest, the city administrator said more importance should be given to practical knowledge than theoretical knowledge.
Stating that the city dwellers are suffering from mosquito menace, he said they must have a strong commitment and continue to make maximum efforts. “Even if we are not 100% successful, if we try sincerely, it will be possible to reach the desired goal.”
Shafiqul said controlling mosquitoes depends largely on the work of field workers.
Mentioning that waste management is closely related to mosquito control activities, he said DNCC is also vigorously implementing waste management activities.
“If everyone performs their respective responsibilities properly, it will be possible to provide some relief to the city dwellers,” the DNCC administrator said.
He announced that those who perform well among those engaged in mosquito control works will be rewarded by the city corporation.
The event was presided over by DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury. Entomologist Dr Kabirul Bashar was present as a special guest. DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Public Health Specialist Dr Benazir Ahmed and senior DNCC officials were present.
