RAJSHAHI, March 21, 2026 (BSS)- After a month of fasting, the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated today (Saturday) in Rajshahi, like the rest of the country, with religious solemnity, enthusiasm and joy.

The day began with Eid congregational prayers held at various Eidgahs and mosques across the city.

The Holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Rajshahi with religious solemnity and a festive atmosphere.

Despite adverse weather conditions, Eid congregational prayers were held in various mosques across the city with the participation of worshippers. After the prayers, special supplications were offered for the peace of the country, the nation, and the world.

Praying in the same rows reflected messages of harmony, goodwill, and brotherhood. May the teachings of Eid inspire us to forget hatred and division and work together to build a beautiful society.

After the prayers, worshippers participated in special supplications seeking peace for the country, the nation, and the world.

At the same time, calls were made from different quarters to forget hatred and animosity and to remain united in harmony and brotherhood.

The first Eid congregation was held at 8 am at the mosque adjacent to the shrine of Hazrat Shah Makhdum Ruposh (RA) in Dargapara, ending at 8:20 am.

A second congregation took place at the same venue at 8:45 am.

Due to adverse weather conditions, Eid prayers were held at the mosque of Shah Makhdum’s shrine instead of the central Eidgah this year.

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu offered prayers at the Dargah Eidgah ground. After the prayers, he extended Eid greetings to the people and urged everyone to maintain harmony and goodwill.

He said, “Despite the adverse weather, we are grateful to Almighty Allah for being able to perform Eid prayers. We must move forward by protecting our motherland and the country.”

After the prayers, worshippers offered supplications for the country’s peace, prosperity, and well-being, and prayed for unity by setting aside hatred and conflict.

According to the organizers, a special moment was created in the country’s political and religious sphere as people participated in the same congregation after a long 17 years.

Zila Parishad Administrator and freedom fighter Ershad Ali Isha and Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton also offered prayers together.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Mohammad Shahjahan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sabur Ali, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mohinul Hasan were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament (MP) from Rajshahi-3 constituency, Shafiqul Haque Milon, participated in the first Eid congregation at Jinnah Nagar Jame Mosque.

Speaking to journalists after the prayers, he said, “Eid teaches us brotherhood, harmony, and mutual coexistence. We must forget all hatred and conflict and share the joy of Eid together. By embracing the lessons of Ramadan, we must all work together to build the Bangladesh of tomorrow.”

The Eid-ul-Fitr congregational prayer at Rajshahi University (RU) was held at 8:00 am at the Central Jame Mosque.

Separate entry routes and a designated pandal was arranged for female worshippers to participate in the Eid congregation.

At Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Jame Mosque, the Eid jamaat was held at 7:00 am.
