CUMILLA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Amena Begum, mother of Fisheries and Livestock and Agriculture
Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid, died at her residence in the capital this afternoon.
She was 103.
Amena Begum had been suffering from various complications related to old age, an official press
release said.
She is survived by four sons, five daughters and numerous relatives and well-wishers.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, ministers and state
ministers of various ministries, members of parliament, secretaries, the administrator of Cumilla
City Corporation, representatives of various institutions, and leaders of the district and
metropolitan BNP and its affiliated organisations, as well as leaders of various political parties,
expressed condolences at the death of Amena Begum.
In their condolence messages, they said Amena Begum was a loving and affectionate mother. Her death
is an irreparable loss to her family and relatives.
They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved
family members.
According to family sources, the namaz-e-janaza of the deceased will be held at 2:00 pm tomorrow at
the Central Eidgah field in Paranpur village of Barpara Union under Cumilla Sadar Dakshin upazila.
