RAJSHAHI, March 20, 2026 (BSS)- On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, a support program for homebound train passengers has been launched under the initiative of Rajshahi City Corporation.
The program was inaugurated today at the Rajshahi Railway Station premises by Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, who attended the event as the chief guest.
In his speech at the inauguration, the administrator said that the initiative was taken to stand beside train passengers traveling home during Eid. As part of citizen services, this is a pilot program.
In addition to railway staff, city corporation workers will assist passengers in carrying luggage and belongings.
From March 20 to March 28, a total of 36 workers (12 per shift in three shifts) will be deployed round-the-clock.
Alongside railway staff, city corporation personnel will help carry luggage and prevent any form of harassment of passengers arriving at Rajshahi Railway Station.
He also sought cooperation from railway authorities, railway police, and all stakeholders.
The administrator further said that the honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has entrusted him with the responsibility of Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation to implement plans for building a new Bangladesh.
He expressed his commitment to working tirelessly to implement these plans.
He added that he wishes to serve the city not merely as an administrator but as a servant of the people.
Since assuming office, various plans have already been undertaken, and with everyone's cooperation, he hopes to transform Rajshahi into a more developed and beautiful city, Inshallah.
After the inauguration, the administrator exchanged greetings with passengers arriving at the railway platform.
The event was conducted by Sheikh Mamun Dollar, Chief Conservancy Officer of Rajshahi City Corporation.
Welcome remarks were delivered by Ziaul Ahsan, Station Manager of Rajshahi Railway Station.
