NETROKONA, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Barrister Kaiser Kamal today lain emphasis on a new Bangladesh where the rule of law, human rights and equal dignity for every citizen will be ensured.
He made the remarks while addressing as chief guest a view-exchange gathering at Bashirpasha Harish Chandra High School at Kalmakanda with the residents of wards 1 and 3 of the area.
Speaking at the event, Barrister Kamal said, “Under the present democratic system, the ruling party will work for the welfare of people and the opposition will hold the government accountable through their constructive criticism rather than just being passive observers.”
He criticized the past governments of over last 15to 20 years, where the opposition parties had little opportunity to express their views and the Parliament acted merely as a “rubber stamp” for the ruling party, a situation that gave rise to authoritarian tendencies.
On the issue of drugs, he took a firm stance against the use of drugs, noting that while the present administration practices a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy, society should also support rehabilitation efforts for those who have fallen into addiction.
The event was chaired by the school’s headmaster Gopal Chandra Saha and attended by local dignitaries and representatives.
