266 Eid congregations to be held in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 266 Eid-ul-Fitr congregations are set to be held in Chattogram city this year under the supervision of the Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).

Preparations for constructing and decorating Eid venues are already underway with support from the district administration, Metropolitan Police and various religious organisations to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration.

According to officials, the CCEJC will organise 96 congregations at different venues across the city, scheduled between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.

The main congregations will be held at Jamiatul Falah and MA Aziz Stadium at 8:00 am and 9:00 am respectively.

Major venues include Andarkillah Shahi Jame Mosque, Laldighi Maidan, Parade Ground, Pologround Maidan, Shah Amanat Shah (R) Dargah Maidan, Port Colony Jame Mosque, Metropolitan Police Line Maidan, Agrabad Jamboree Field and Bayezid Bostami (R) Dargah Maidan.

In addition, the CCC will arrange 170 congregations across its 41 wards under the supervision of ward councillors.

The decisions were taken at a coordination meeting held at the CCC auditorium.

Two major congregations organised by the CCC will take place at the Jamiatul Falah Complex Mosque at 8:00 am and 9:00 am. The first will be led by Hazratul Allama Alhaj Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi, Khatib of Jamiatul Falah National Mosque, while the second will be led by Hafez Maulana Mohammad Ahmadul Haq Al Qaderi, Senior Pesh Imam of the same mosque.

Meanwhile, the central Eid congregation organised by the CCEJC will be held at the gymnasium ground in front of MA Aziz Stadium at 8:30 am. Hazrat Maulana Principal Dr Syed Muhammad Abu Noman, former principal of Baitush Sharaf Adarsh Kamil Madrasa, will lead the prayers.

The decision regarding the central congregation was finalised at a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Chattogram.

Outside the city, preparations have also been completed for 2,542 Eid congregations in 15 upazilas of the district. These will be organised at local mosques under the supervision of respective Eid management committees following Islamic Foundation guidelines.

All congregations in the upazilas are scheduled to be held between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.
