Navy Chief for taking utmost precautions for ensuring voters' safety

DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hasan today instructed all concerned to take utmost precautionary measures to closely 
monitor the overall situation at the polling centers, maintain law and order as well as ensure the safety of voters as the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls and referendum is scheduled to be held on February 12 next.

He also called upon all concerned, including the Bangladesh Navy, other law enforcement agencies and local administration, to work together, so that, the 
general people can franchise their voting rights in a festive mood without any fear, said a release of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this evening.

The Navy Chief was inspecting the election preparations and overall activities in Barguna where he also held a view-exchange meeting with the 
civil administration, law enforcement agencies and election-related individuals at the Barguna Deputy Commissioner's Office as part of his countrywide visit prior to polls and referendum.

With the aim of holding the upcoming 13th JS polls in a free, fair, impartial and peaceful manner, the Bangladesh Navy is performing duties in 25 upazilas of 16 parliamentary constituencies under the 'In Aid to Civil Power' at present.

Barishal Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of Barguna, DIG Barishal, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Barishal, Barishal 
Regional Election Officer, Divisional Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Civil Surgeon, Deputy Director Local Government Barguna, Additional Deputy 
Commissioner, District Election Officer, Army, RAB, Ansar, Executive Engineers of various departments, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Officers-in-
Charge (OCs) of Police Stations and high-ranking officials of the Navy along with other concerned persons were present in the meeting.

During the visit, he observed the overall activities of the Navy contingent on the ground and provided necessary guidance, the ISPR added.
