KHULNA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS)- The Mongla Port Authority (MPA) has tightened security measures at Mongla Port and its adjoining industrial areas ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election (JS).
The decision was taken at a security coordination meeting held on Sunday night at the MPA conference room to ensure overall law and order during the election period.
As part of the measures, night patrols have been increased, surveillance operations intensified, and boat patrols strengthened in channel and jetty areas, alongside enhanced coordination among law enforcement agencies and MPA security personnel.
MPA Chairman Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman presided over the meeting, which was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies and officials from 28 industrial establishments operating under the MPA.
The meeting stressed the importance of collective efforts to maintain peace, security and law and order in the port area during the election period.
Senior deputy secretary of MPA, Md Makruzzaman informed that a security cell has been opened to provide round-the-clock security throughout the election period.
Participants expressed hope that the strengthened measures would help ensure a peaceful and orderly environment in the MPA area during the forthcoming national parliamentary election.
