Spl Asstt Anis wants experts’ role in Ctg monorail project

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS)- Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury has suggested for involvement of internationally reputed experienced experts for proper implementation of proposed Monorail project in the port city. 

Prof. Anis came up with the suggestion during a meeting with Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain.

CCC mayor sought all-out cooperation from the government in implementing the project. 

President of the Greater Chattogram Economic Forum and former CCCI President Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury was also present during the meeting held at Tiger Pass city Bhavan this morning.

City Mayor informed that the meeting that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between CCC, Arab Contractor and Orascom Peninsula Consortium to carry out feasibility study and execution of Chattogram Monorail Project on June 24 last.
 
The CCC has sent a letter to BIDA seeking assistance to conduct feasibility study of the project.
 
The mayor said BIDA has responded quickly and sent letters to LGRD, Road Transport and Bridge division and Power division requesting the ministries to take proper actions in this regard.

Dr. Shahadat said such an important project would help greatly to reduce and solve the growing traffic congestions apart from accelerating the investment centering the country’s principal sea port.

Dr Anisuzzaman Chowdhury suggested the mayor to involve and engage internationally renowned experts who have experience in implementing such project for the sake of proper and speedy execution of the project.
 
The Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser also inquired about latest situation and progress achieved in the meantime in solving water-logging problem of the port city. 

Mayor informed him that around 60 percent of water-logging problems of the port city have been solved this year following special directives from Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and coordinated efforts of different organization thereafter.
