NARSINGDI, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested the prime accused in the 
murder case of a nine-year-old child, Ramim, in Palash upazila of Narsingdi, 
who allegedly died after air was pumped into his rectum

The arrested was Sabuj Mia, 34, son of Lokman Hossain of Charkarardi village 
under Gajaria Union.

He was arrested from beside Arshinagar area under Narsingdi Sadar upazila in 
the district early Wednesday morning.

According to police, Sabuj had been absconding since the murder incident. He 
was arrested with the help of information technology while attempting to flee 
secretly to another location.

Earlier, on May 6, four youths - Sabuj, Faisal (25), Shishir (28), and Babu 
(25) - allegedly forced the child into a rickshaw garage at Gajaria Bazar in 
Palash and pumped air into his rectum and mouth using an air machine. The 
child later became critically ill and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College 
Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, the victim's father, Ripon Mia, filed a murder case 
with Palash Police Station, naming the four accused. The suspects had been in 
hiding since the child's death.

Officer-in-Charge of Palash Police Station said that the arrested accused was 
sent to court on Wednesday afternoon with a plea for a seven-day police 
remand. Police are also continuing efforts to arrest the remaining accused.
