KHULNA, Dec 13, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Information Secretary and Khulna-4 constituency candidate Azizul Bari Helal on Friday said BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is not only an asset of the party but also a national asset of Bangladesh.
"Begum Khaleda Zia will recover very soon with the prayers of people of all religions," Helal said while attending a series of programmes in Rupsha, Dighalia and Senhati areas.
Helal exchanged views with local women at Rajapur in Rupsha in the morning. Following the meeting, he inaugurated a food distribution programme organised by Confidence Kalyan Sangstha. He later offered Jumma prayers at Aichgati Mosque.
In the afternoon, he inaugurated a football tournament organised by Laskarpur Pragati Sangha at the Laskarpur Government Primary School ground.
He also joined a lamp-lighting and prayer meeting organised by members of the Sanatan community in Dighalia upazila. The programme was presided over by Ramprasad Babu.
Addressing the prayer meeting as the chief guest, Helal said Bangladesh is a non-communal country, adding that the Awami League has become isolated from the people due to political misdeeds and fascism.
"They spread propaganda claiming that Sanatan brothers and sisters do not vote for BNP. If that were true, BNP could not have formed the government four times," he said.
Helal said people from different communities have been praying for Khaleda Zia's recovery, expressing optimism that she would regain her health soon.
Highlighting BNP's future plans, he said that if the party comes to power, 50 lakh families would be brought under family cards while 50 lakh farmers would be provided with farmer cards. He also said employment would be ensured for one crore unemployed people in the first year.
He added that unity among people would prevent any attempt to disrupt law and order in Gazirhat, noting that Bangladeshis believe in communal harmony.
In the evening, Helal exchanged views with members of the Christian community at Senhati Union.
