DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) – “I am your son. I will speak of your conveniences and inconveniences and will work for you. For this, everyone’s cooperation is necessary,” BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman told the residents of city’s Korail area.

The BNP Chairman made the remarks while speaking at a prayer meeting this afternoon, organized by 'Korailbashi' at the Mohakhali T&T ground to seek forgiveness for the soul of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Earlier, at 4pm, Tarique Rahman arrived on the stage of the prayer meeting and greeted everyone present there by raising both hands.

Pledging to stand by the residents of Korail, he said, “Our politics is the politics of improving the living standards of common people. I am your son. I want to work staying by your side. Everyone together will raise their hands in prayer to Allah for the welfare of the country.”

Expressing gratitude to the residents of Korail, the BNP Chairman said, “Today's prayer meeting is for my mother Begum Khaleda Zia. During her lifetime, she took various initiatives for the promotion of education for women and girls free of cost. Similarly, the people of the country benefited in many ways under the leadership of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.”

“Our politics is for the common people. Improving the living standards of common people is our goal and objective,” he added.

Addressing the Korail residents, he said, “You are suffering, facing hardships in living; we want to gradually solve these problems. With Allah's mercy, we want to build big, tall buildings here. And we will register the flats in the names of the people living here, and we want to give those flats in their names.”

“We know that your children here face problems with education. If Allah wills, we want to establish good schools here for the children. Alongside schools, we want to ensure they have an environment for sports, that there are playgrounds for sports; by the will of Allah, we want to arrange that here too,” added Tarique Rahman.

Mentioning that BNP has a plan to take healthcare to every household, the BNP Chairman said, “So that you don't face problems in treatment, so that you don't have to go far, there will be clinics, hospitals everything will be within your area. This is how we want to build this area for you. This is how we want to develop it.”

In this context, addressing the crowd, the BNP Chairman said, “I will be busy in the upcoming election. I will have to travel across the country. In that journey, you will be my strength. For those who could not attend today's programme, I request you to convey my message to mothers, sisters, brothers-to everyone who could not come.”

Emphasizing the importance of staying united, Tarique Rahman said unity makes it possible to tackle all crises. “It will be easier to take effective initiatives to solve various problems in people's lives, including the law and order situation, electricity bills and gas bills. However, active participation and support from the people are crucial for implementing these plans,” he added.

The prayer meeting was conducted by Abdus Salam, Chief Coordinator of the BNP Election Management Committee for Dhaka-17 constituency. Tarique Rahman’s wife Zobaida Rahman also participated in the event.

Prayers were offered seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs of the Liberation War and recent various movements, and special prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the country and the nation.
