DHAKA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) – Police arrested domestic help Ayesha, the prime suspect of the double murder in the city’s Mohammadpur area from Jhalokathi.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrest in a media briefing here this afternoon.

The DC said Mohammadpur Police arrested Ayesha from Jhalokathi in the early hours of today.

Laila Afroze (48) and her daughter Nafisa Lawal Binte Aziza (15), a class nine student of Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College, were stabbed to death on the seventh floor of a 14-storey residential building on Shahjahan Road on Monday morning.

Laila Afroze’s husband school teacher A J M Azizul Islam filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station naming domestic worker Ayesha as the sole accused in the double murder on that night, police said.
