KHULNA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted two separate
operations in the Koyra area of the Sundarbans last night, rescuing four
abducted fishermen, recovering arms and ammunition, and arresting four
poachers along with venison.

Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed the
information on Monday evening.

He said Coast Guard came to know the notorious 'Dulabhai' robber gangs were
staying near Nagjhora canal of the Koyra River in the Sundarbans.

Based on the information, a special operation was carried out by Coast Guard
Station Koyra at around 8 pm on Sunday.

During the operation, the Coast Guard rescued four fishermen who had been
held hostage by the robber gang and recovered one single-barrel gun, one live
cartridge and one empty cartridge.

Sensing the presence of Coast Guard personnel, the robbers managed to flee
the scene, preventing any arrests.

The rescued fishermen were handed over to their families, while legal
procedures regarding the seized arms and ammunition are underway.

In another operation, acting on a separate tip-off, Coast Guard Station Koyra
conducted a raid around 2 am on Monday at Moydapesha canal area of the Koyra
River. During the search, the Coast Guard seized 72 kilograms of venison, two
deer heads, and 300 meters of hunting trap, and arrested four deer poachers.

Legal action concerning the seized items and the detainees is in process.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq added that the Coast Guard will continue
such operations in the future to keep the Sundarbans free from bandit
activities and to prevent wildlife killing and trafficking.
