RAJSHAHI, June 10, 2026 (BSS)- A workshop titled "Preparation for
Accreditation: Documentation and Evidence" was held today at University of
Rajshahi (RU) with the aim of elevating the country's higher education to
international standards and ensuring quality education in universities.
The daylong workshop took place in the conference room of the university's
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Organised jointly by the HEAT Project, the Bangladesh Accreditation Council
(BAC), and RU's IQAC, the workshop featured detailed discussions on improving
the quality of higher education, accreditation preparedness, and
strengthening institutional capacity.
The inaugural session of the workshop was chaired by BAC Chairman Professor
Mesbahuddin Ahmed.
The chief guest was Prof Masuma Habib, a member of the University Grants
Commission of Bangladesh (UGC). Special guests included RU Pro-Vice-
Chancellor (Administration) Prof Md. Abdul Alim and Pro-VC (Academic) Prof
Mamunur Rashid.
BAC full-time member Prof SM Kabir presented the keynote paper at the
workshop while IQAC Additional Director Prof Md. Kamal Uddin moderated it.
The event brought together department chairpersons and members of the
Programme Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) from eight departments: Public
Administration, Statistics, Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering,
Marketing, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Botany, Persian Language
and Literature, and Philosophy.
Among others present at the workshop were Treasurer Prof Matiar Rahman,
Registrar Prof Iftikharul Alam Masud, BAC Director Prof Nasir Uddin Ahmed,
IQAC Director Prof Abu Reza, IQAC Additional Director Prof Md. Monimul Haque,
along with deans of various faculties, the Director of the ICT Center, the
Controller of Examinations, department chairpersons, and concerned faculty
members.
