2-day training workshop for women journalists held at PIB

 
DHAKA, Dec 7, 2022 (BSS) - A two-day training workshop for women journalists, organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), ended at the seminar room of PIB here today.
 
Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the event, Samir Kanti Barua, Chief News Editor (CNE) of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the national news agency, said that the importance of fact-checking is immense in achieving excellence in journalism.
 
He also distributed certificates among the trainees, said a press release.
 
Samir Kanti Barua also discussed several issues in detail such as fact-checking tools, verification of fake information and risks of spreading fake news through social media.
 
Besides, he highlighted the techniques of writing reports via fact-checking, methods of fact-checking fake pictures and video images, monitoring fact-checking sites and verifying the authenticity of the news.
 
PIB Director General and prominent journalist Zafar Wazed was also present on the occasion, among others.
 
PIB Director discussed fact-checking and the ethics of journalism.
 
A total of 30 journalists, and members of Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Samity participated in the training workshop under the coordination of PIB Workshop Coordinator Zilhaj Uddin Nipun.
 
Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Samity President Soma Shahtaz attended it.
