Asaduzzaman arrives in New Delhi to attend NMFT ministerial conference 

NEW DELHI, Nov 17, 2020 (BSS) - Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan arrived here this afternoon to attend the third 'No Money for Terror' (NMFT) Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing beginning tomorrow.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the two-day conference at Hotel Taj Palace here tomorrow morning, according to Prime Minister's Office (PMO) here.

As many as 450 delegates from across the world, including ministers, heads of multilateral organisations and Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Heads of Delegations, among others, are expected to attend the high-profile conference.

The Bangladesh home minister is leading a 3-member delegation to the conference, which will offer a unique platform for participating nations to deliberate on effectiveness of the current international regime on Counter Terrorism Financing and steps required to address the emerging challenges.

During the Conference, deliberations will be held in four sessions focusing 'Global Trends in Terrorism and Terrorist Financing', 'Use of Formal and Informal Channels of Funds for Terrorism', 'Emerging Technologies and Terrorist Financing' and 'International Co-operation to Address Challenges in Combating Terrorist Financing'.
 
Home Minister Asaduzzaman will address the second session on the topic of "Terror Financing through MTSS Hawala Hundi Networks and other Informal means", the Bangladesh delegation sources told BSS here this evening. 

Besides, official sources said the conference will build on gains and learning of previous two conferences and will work towards enhancing global cooperation to deny finances to terrorists and access to permissive jurisdictions to operate. 

Sources from Bangladesh delegation said Home Minister Asaduzzaman is expected to call on his Indian counterpart Amit Saha on the sidelines of the conference. During the meeting, the two ministers will discuss various issues of bilateral interest, the sources added.

Bangladesh home minister will return home on Sunday after concluding his three-day official visit to India.
