RAJSHAHI, Nov 12, 2022 (BSS)- Food Minister Sadhan Majumder said the farmers are playing a pioneering role towards supplying food to the country's people and ensuring their food security.
 
"Farmers are integral part of our nation as well as the country's development. For this reason, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the country will survive as long as the farmers will survive," he added.

The minister came up with the observation while distributing as chief guest fertilizers and seeds among the small and marginal farmers free of cost as agriculture incentives.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) organized the distribution programme at Murshadpur Union Parishad premises under Porsha Upazila in Naogaon district today.

Food Minister Sadhan Majumder said the present government has been providing fertilizers and seeds among the farmers free of cost to boost crop production.
He also said a certain circle has been hatching conspiracy to create artificial crisis of fertilizer in the country and the government is checking the ill-motive with strong hand.

The minister categorically said there is no crisis of fertilizer in the country at present as the government is giving crores of taka subsidy on fertilizer for development of agriculture and the farmers as well.

He told the farmers gathering that the government has to purchase fertilizer at Taka 6,500 per sac but selling it at Taka 800 to 1,100 among the farmers.

On the occasion, the minister distributed seeds of wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, lentil, grass pea, groundnut, mugdul and onion and fertilizers among 5,010 small and marginal farmers under the agriculture incentive programme.
