Bangladesh is now moving towards smart one from digital stage- CUET VC

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 3, 2022 (BSS): Vice Chancellor (VC) of Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam today said that there is no alternative to sustainable development planning in a densely populated country like Bangladesh.

“Without sustainable and innovative planning, no development will be successful,” he said this while speaking at the opening session of a two-day Planning Student Convention-2022 at central auditorium of the university.

The Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Department of the university and the Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) jointly organized the programme for the first time in the country.

Terming the country’s development is an environment friendly, Rafiqul Islam said the country is now moving towards the Smart Bangladesh from Digital stage.

He said that our universities are working towards the implementation of Prime Minister's vision "Village will be a City".

He urged the young planners to focus on research and innovation in this regard.

Earlier, a rally was began from the middle side of the Administration Building and Civil Engineering Building and ended at the URP Building after parading important streets.

 Students, teachers and officials of various universities along with the invited guests joined in it.

Different universities including Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), CUET, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Khulna University, Jahangirnagar University, Pabna Science and Technology University among others joined to the convention.
 
About 300 young planners of the country along with representatives of Save the Children, BRAC-Urban Development and other allied organizations participated in the convention.

President of Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) Mohammad Fazle Reza Sumon presided over the event while Cox's Bazar Development Authority Chairman Commodore (Retd) Mohammad Nurul Abshar and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning of CUET Mohammad Kamrul Hasan among others addressed the inaugural function as special guests.
