Govt Primary Teachers Welfare Trust Bill 2022 placed in parliament

DHAKA, Oct 31,2022 (BSS) – The ‘Government Primary Teachers Welfare Trust’ Bill-2022 was placed in the parliament today aiming to ensure welfare of minor or disable children of a government primary school teachers in case of his death during his service.

The bill, placed by State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain , was later sent to the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education for further scrutiny and submit a report within next two months.

Placing the bill, the state minister said the proposed law will be enacted through repealing the Government Primary School Teachers Welfare Trust Ordinance,1985.  

If a teacher of a government primary school in the country dies while working, and has a minor or child with a disability, the government will take responsibility for their children, according to the proposed law.

With such a provision, final approval has been given to the draft of ‘Government Primary School Teachers Welfare Trust Act-2022’.

Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Law Minister Anisul Haque were present during this time, among others.

He said that according to the new law if the teacher of a primary school dies while working, the government will provide for the education of their minor children. At the same time, his/her family will be given one-time financial assistance.

The state minister told the parliament that the trust would have a fund. Some money from the fund will be deposited by the government and some by the teachers themselves.
