Dhaka University's first ever Research fair ends today

 

DHAKA, Oct 23, 2022 (BSS) - Two-day long 'Research and Publication Fair', the first ever research fair in the history of country's hundred-year old Dhaka University, ended today at the university's central playground on the campus.

During the two-day fair, a total of 12 presentations on research activities were delivered by faculties, institutes and research centre on glorifying historical background and achievements.

The fair was inaugurated on Saturday morning by Industries Minister Nurul Majid Humayun, while barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, deputy education minister, attended the opening ceremony of the fair as special guest.

Students, teachers and random visitors were seen collecting 'brochures' and flyers from the stalls and getting familiar with the research activities, conducted by students and faculty members of respective department or institute.

"The fair was organised with the aim of establishing academia-industry linkages and strengthening publication, research and innovation activities," DU Vice Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman told the opening ceremony of the fair.

In this fair, departments, institutes and research centers of the university showcased their books, innovations, researches and publications.

Publications published on the occasion of the centenary of Dhaka University including books, special issues of journals, research projects, posters, flyers, brochures were displayed and presented in the fair.

A total of 55 centennial books, 26 special journals, 216 research projects, 624 posters and 86 flyers have been displayed in the fair by different departments, institutes and research centres.

Each faculty pavilion had one stall of the faculty and each department and institute had one stall along with faculty and institute pavilion.

In the closing ceremony of the fair the best journal from the journals published, marking the university's centenary celebration by different faculties and institutes, was awarded.

Apart from this, prizes were also awarded to the winners of the best posters displayed in the fair as well as to the winners of essay and poetry competition organized on the occasion of the university's centenary.

In the fair, various faculties and institutes published separate 'brochures' highlighting their research activities and outlook.
