Light to moderate rain likely

DHAKA, Oct 23, 2022 (BSS) - The well-marked low over Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay moved northwestwards and has intensified into a Deep Depression, under its influence light to moderate rain is likely to occur at most parts of the country, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department bulletin this morning.

"It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-westerly direction... Maritime ports of Bangladesh have been advised to keep hoisted Distant Warning Signal No. Three," said the bulletin valid for the next 24 hours commencing 9am.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind, is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over southern part of the country," the bulletin said.

Day and night temperature may fall by (1-3) degree Celsius over the country, it added.

However, the met office also predicted that the weather condition may deteriorate over the country in the next 72 hours.

The highest temperature on Saturday was recorded 35.6 degree Celsius jointly in Chandpur and Sandwip, while today's minimum temperature was 18.5 degree Celsius in Rajarhat.

The sun sets at 6:26 pm today and rises at 6:00 am tomorrow in the capital.
