Academics laud Bangladesh's success in education, economy

DHAKA, Oct 20, 2022 (BSS) - Noted academicians from home and abroad at a
special lecture today meticulously lauded Bangladesh's tremendous success in
different fields especially education, economy, trade and commerce in the
last one decade.

"Bangladesh has managed to achieve tremendous success in various sectors
especially education, economy, trade and commerce," said Birmingham
University, UK Chancellor and President of the Confederation of British
Industry Lord Karan Bilimoria.

He added: "Global community is getting inspired and motivated by
unprecedented uplift of Bangladesh."

Bilimoria was addressing a special lecture on 'Business, Finance and Economy'
at Dhaka University Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban here.

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman chaired the
function while DU Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Mohammad Samad, Pro-VC
(Academic) Professor ASM Maksud Kamal and Treasurer Professor Mamtaz Uddin
Ahmed also addressed it.

Bilimoria said the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war is putting adverse impacts on
global economy, food security and energy sector and Bangladesh is also facing
the impacts.

Loss of life and property is being reported everyday from the war field which
must be stopped, he mentioned.

He called upon the Bangladeshi students, teachers and researchers to pursue
their higher education from UK which is the best destination of international
students.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be inked soon between the DU and the
Birmingham University regarding the collaboration, he said.

"Learning never ends and collaboration on education and research is a must,"
he said.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman thanked Bilimoria for his motivational and inspirational
lecture and said students, faculties and researchers will be highly benefited
by his valuable speech.

 

The DU VC paid glowing tributes to the memory of Lord Karan Bilimoria's
father Lt. General Faridoon Blimoria who led the Gorkha Rifles and played a
heroic role during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

So, this Bilimoria family has a strong attachment with Bangladesh, DU VC
pointed out.

Noted academicians, researchers, teachers and students participated at the
program.
