MOSCOW, Oct 19, 2022 (BSS/TASS) - The Ukrainian military opened fire in the
early hours of Wednesday on the city of Energodar, where the Zaporozhye
Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is located, the municipal military-civilian
administration reported.
"The Ukrainian military is currently shelling Energodar using various
weapons. The strikes target different parts of the city," the administration
stated.
There is no information as of yet regarding possible casualties or the scale
of the damage inflicted upon the local infrastructure.
The municipal military-civilian administration reported on Tuesday night that
the Ukrainian forces delivered nine artillery strikes on the Zaporozhye NPP
with the use of US-made M777 howitzers.
Energodar, as well as the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which is Europe's
largest nuclear power facility, located in the city, have been repeatedly
attacked by Ukrainian troops, artillery and drones. As a result of damage to
some infrastructure facilities near the station, all six of its units were
shut down.
