DHAKA, Sept 1, 2022 (BSS) - Two new trust funds titled "Prof. Dr. Golam M. Mathbor Trust Fund" and "Mazeda Khatun Memorial Trust Fund" have been established at the University of Dhaka (DU).
 
Prof. Dr. Golam M. Mathbor of Monmouth University, USA handed over a cheque for Tk. 10 lac and Md. Azhar, friend of Mohammed Monirul Alam handed over a cheque for Tk. 30 lac separately to the Treasurer of DU Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed today at the VC's Lounge of the university to set up these trust funds.
 
Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Director of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Azam, Chairperson of Sociology Department Prof Dr Sadeka Halim, Chairperson of Political Science Department Prof Dr Tasneem Arefa Siddiqui, Chairperson of the English Department Prof. Zerin Alam, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, among others, were present on these occasions.
 
Out of the income of "Prof. Dr. Golam M. Mathbor Trust Fund", every year 10 financially challenged students of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, Department of Sociology and Department of Political Science of DU will be given scholarships.
 
Besides, out of the income of "Mazeda Khatun Memorial Trust Fund", some financially challenged students of the English Department will be given scholarships.
 
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donors for setting up these two trust funds. Financially challenged students will be highly benefited by these trust funds, he hoped.
 
Dr. Golam M. Mathbor is a former student of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research of Dhaka University.

Besides, former student of the Department of English of DU Mohammed Monirul Alam who is now living in USA donated money to set up "Mazeda Khatun Memorial Trust Fund" to perpetuate the memories of his mother.
