RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2022 (BSS) - Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated "University Day" amid joy, enthusiasm and fanfare marking its 19th founding anniversary today.

 
The day's programme began in the morning with hoisting of the national flag followed by plantation of tree saplings on campus.
 
Vice-chancellor-in-Charge of the university Prof Sazzad Hossain opened the daylong programmes.
 
Marking the day, a number of teachers, students and staff brought out a colourful rally that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also held at the Central auditorium.
 
Addressing a brief meeting on the occasion, VC professor Hossain sought cooperation from all quarters to run the university peacefully and successfully.
 
He said eleven new ten-storey buildings are being constructed on the campus involving Taka 599.30 crore aimed at providing improved facilities for the teachers, researchers, students and others concerned.
 
The improved facilities will contribute a lot towards advancing and supporting the higher academic standards in both teaching and research that will turn the university into a centre of excellence.
 
Dean of Electrical and Computer Science Faculty Prof Nazrul Islam, Registrar Prof Selim Hossain, Students Welfare Director Prof Rabiul Awal, Research and Extension Director Prof Faruque Hossain and Planning and Development Director Prof Jaglul Sadaat, among others, were present on the occasion.
