Education materials distributed among 88 children in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Aug 29, 2022 (BSS) - As many as 88 kids of leprosy-affected people, the persons with disabilities and marginalized people of the district got education materials and financial assistance to help run their academic activities smoothly.

District education officer (DEO) Md Enayet Hossain distributed the materials among the children at a function organized by The Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh as the chief guest.

The function was held at the hall room of Sinnomul Mohila Samity of the district town here this noon under Mobilization and Empowerment of People Living with Disabilities Project supported by Learning for Change and Resilience Project.

Presided over by project manager Jeorge Biswas, the function was also addressed among others by technical support officer Keshob Chandra Roy and area development officer Md. Sariful Islam.

Project manager Jeorge Biswas said a number of staff and officials have been working for implementing the MEPLD Project in the district since January 2020 aimed to change the socio-economic condition of the leprosy-affected people.

Each of the children received a bag for carrying books, 6 khatas and 6 pens for writing and cash aid ranging from Taka 2000 to 3500.
