JURI, Moulvibazar, Aug 24, 2022 (BSS) - Tea garden workers have withdrawn
barricades from the regional highway here as Environment, Forest and Climate
Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin assured them that the Prime Minister would
talk about their wage within two or three days.
 
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will talk about your wage within the next two
or three days," he said while talking to the agitators urging them to end
their strike.
 
Shahab Uddin added: "You (tea workers) love Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman throughout your entire life while your offspring are
now getting higher education and also taking part in running the state under
the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter".
 
Highlighting different initiatives taken by the present government for the
welfare of the tea garden workers, he said, "Bangabandhu's daughter Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina will do everything possible for the tea workers".
 
The tea gardens workers were staging demonstrations from 11 am to 3 pm
blocking the regional highway to press home their demand for increasing their
daily wage to Taka 300 from Taka 120.
 
Earlier, the minister joined a meeting of the Juri Upazila Samajik Sampriti
Committee as the chief guest and distributed sports materials among different
educational institutions under the initiative of Upazila Krira Sangstha.
