Proposed budget will promote local industries: lawmakers

DHAKA, June 26, 2022 (BSS) – Lawmakers today said the proposed budget will help promote local industries as the global pandemic has battered the local industries.
 
Taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget in the Jatiya Sangsad, the lawmakers said the proposed budget will expedite growth of local industries.
 
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on June 9 in the JatiyaSangsad unveiled a Taka 6,78,064 crore national budget for 2022-23 fiscal setting the GDP growth target at 7.5 percent amid the economic fallout due to the novel corona virus pandemic coupled with ongoing Ukraine-Russia war.
 
“The proposed budget will help to promote local industries as the government has proposed more allocation for the fisheries and livestock sector and no new tax imposed,” said fisheries and livestock minister SM Rezaul Karim.
 
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said in her addressgovernment has many initiatives to raise industrialization in the country.
 
The budget will expedite the industrialization and reinforce the development of the country, said Shahadara Mannan of Bogura-1. Even the proposed budget will speed up development and growth of the country, the lawmaker added.
 
The main challenge of the proposed budget is controlling inflation and bring discipline in the financial institutions, said Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid of Dhaka-6.
 
Participating in the budget discussion, Ganoforum lawmaker Sultan Muhammed Mansur of Moulvibazar-2 said “the government must have to make advancements in development and good governance to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
 
Treasury bench members, State Minister  for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed, Deputy Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, Shahjahan Khan  of Madaripur-2, Md. Mahbubul Alam Hanifof Kushtia-3, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz of Habiganj-1, Md. Akhteruzzaman of Khulna-6, Ayesha Ferdaus of Noakhali-6, Sherin Ahmed of Women seat-1, Umme FatemaNazma Begum of Women Seat-12 , Jatiya Party lawmaker Salma Islam of Women seat-44, Fakhrul Imam of Mymensingh-8 and BNP lawmaker Md. Harunur Rashid of Chapai Nawabganj-3, took part in the discussion.
 
Earlier, they paid their glowing tribute to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders, martyred freedom fighters and also those who made their utmost sacrifices during the War of Liberation and all subsequent democratic movements in the country.
