Keel laying ceremony of MPA vessel held at Khulna Shipyard

    
KHULNA, June 21, 2022(BSS) - The keel laying ceremony of a "Search and Rescue
vessel" for the Mongla Port Authority (MPA) was held at Khulna Shipyard
premises today.

Speaking as the chief guest, the MPA Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa said
Khulna Shipyard Ltd will build six vessels for the port. "Search and Rescue
vessel" is one of it, he added.

Turning the vessel is a big achievement which will enhance the port
capability, the chief guest said 75 modern cargo and container handling
vessels have already been commissioned to the Mongla Port fleet.

He underscored that the importance of the port will enhance after
inauguration of the Padma Bridge and said that it will capable to fulfill the
demand of both the importers and exporters.
 
"Parking ability of the imported cars have already rose 15,000 at the port,"
he said, adding that the Khulna Shipyard to have handed over the vessel to
the MPA in time after completion of construction.

Construction works of eight development projects for the port are going on in
full swing and there is no ship congestion at the port, he said.

Once upon a looser Mongla Port has turned a profitable port while Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken huge development activities after Awami
League came to power in 1996 and the Khulna Shipyard also turned a profitable
organisation while it handed over to Bangladesh Navy in 1999, he added.

Khulna Regional Naval Commander Rear Admiral Anwar Hossain addressed the
function as special guest with Managing Director of Khulna Shipyard Commodore
M Shamsul Aziz in the chair.

Mentionable, Designed by German organisation Technology Services (GmbH), the
"Search and Rescue vessel" will be equipped with ultra modern technology.
