Speaker recalls ex-finance minister Muhith's contribution

DHAKA, June 15, 2022 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today recalled the memory of late ex-Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, saying that his contribution will be remembered by the nation always with deep respect.

She was speaking as the chief guest at a memorial meeting organized by Bangladesh Private Medical College Association (BPMCA) at a city hotel in memory of Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, a press release said.

She also thanked the organizers for arranging the commemorative meeting for paying homage to the former finance minister, the release added.

With BPMCA President Mubin Khan in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed, Convener of the memorial meeting Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, Professor of Medicine of Harvard Medical School Bimalangshu Dey, Bangladeshi physician and National Professor Shahla Khatun and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder.

During his tenure as the finance minister, Muhith had performed his duties in all development activities properly under the direction of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the speaker recalled.

The meeting was also attended by members of BPMCA, cultural and media personnel and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat.
