
DHAKA, June 09, 2022 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today dismissed a petition of real estate company Concord Group, pleading to review its order that had upheld a High Court judgment to hand over its 18-storey tower in Azimpur to Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage.
An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order after holding hearing on the matter.
Senior Advocates AY Moshiuzzaman and Akhter Imam stood for the orphanage authorities, while Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud and Advocate MA Hannan argued for Concord. Senior Advocate Manjil Mushid took part in the hearing for a petition filed by four students of the orphanage.
The Appellate Division on March 12, 2018, passed the order, upholding the judgment of the High Court. Earlier on September 17, 2015, High Court in its judgment asked Concord Group to hand over its 18-storey tower Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage authorities.
