Jatiya Muktijoddha Council Bill, 2022 placed in JS

DHAKA, June 5,2022 (BSS) - Jatiya Muktijoddha Council Bill, 2022, today placed in the parliament with an aim to incorporating a provision of listing the names of Rajakars, Al-Badr, Al-Shams and all those who worked as members of other auxiliary forces of Pakistani occupation army during in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

The bill, placed by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq,was later sent to the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of LiberationWar Affairs for further scrutiny and submit a report within seven working days.

Placing the bill, Huq said the propose act will be enacted through repealing the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council law enacted in 2002.

Jatiya Muktijoddha Council will be responsible for preparing a list of Rajakars, Al-Badr, Al-Shams and all those who worked for other auxiliary forces of Pakistani occupation army during in the country’s liberation war in 1971 through scrutiny, according to the draft of the bill.

He said that the council as per the existing law of 2002 was responsible for preparing the list of freedom fighters.

The enactment of the proposed law would cancel the 2002 law and require the government to publish a list of Razakars in a gazette.
