Recurrence of August 15 won't be allowed to happen: Nanak

BRAHMANBARIA, June 4, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak today said the recurrence of fateful August 15 will not be allowed to happen in Bangladesh and the slogan of "The tool of '75, Let's roar again" is not useful here.

"Recurrence of August 15 won't be allowed to occur in Bangladesh," he told the 'Tri-Annual Council of Kasba Upazila Awami League' on Kasba T Ali College ground here this noon.

Nanak said, "As long as the Awami League leaders and activists will survive, there is no chance of recurrence of August 15 in Bangladesh again . . . Conspirators' venomous teeth will be wiped out."

On the occasion, Law Minister Advocate Anisul Haque said BNP has started creating irritation as the much-expected multipurpose Padma Bridge has become ready for vehicular movement.

He said, "Many conspiracies occurred centering the construction of the bridge. The first plot was over providing the World Bank's financial support. Dr Yunus and Dr Kamal Hossain all conspired together so that the World Bank stopped giving money".

The law minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina vowed in the name of Allah to build the Padma Bridge with the money of the people of Bangladesh and ultimately it was done.

Noting that BNP leaders should be restrained, Anisul Haque said, "We don't mind for doing politics. But if you try to occur recurrence of another August 15, we will deal it with iron hand."

"I will ensure proper punishment in line with the law to those who want to see recurrence of August 15. We want that all political activities will take place maintaining democratic norms and values. You can't do anything here by hatching conspiracy," he added.

Brahmanbaria District AL President RAM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, MP, inaugurated the council with convener of Kasba Upazila Anisul Haque in the chair.

Awami League Organizing Secretary Abu Sayed Al Mahmud Swapan, BM Farhad Hossain Sangram, MP, Umme Fatema Nazma Begum, MP, AL Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Brahmanbaria District AL Vice-President Helal Uddin, among others, spoke.
