PM greets Loknath devotees on his death anniversary

DHAKA, June 1, 2022 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today extended her greetings to all the devotees of Bengali spiritual master and yogi Lokenath Brahmachari on the eve of his 132nd 'Tirodhan Dibas' or death anniversary.

In a message, the premier said that yogi Lokenath Brahmachari had no caste discrimination.

That is why people of all classes and professions irrespective of races and religions used to attend him while Lokenath also treated everyone equally, she added.

The country's constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and castes, she said. 

"We all fought together and made Bangladesh independent. So this country belongs to all of us. Bangladesh is a safe haven for all people irrespective of religion or caste. Bangladesh is a non-communal country. Religion is for individuals while festivals for all," Hasina continued.

She urged all to keep the bonds of communal harmony intact and build the 'Sonar Bangladesh' as dreamt by Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman imbued with the spirit of the War of Liberation.

She also wished a success to all programmes of the 132nd 'Tirodhan Dibas' or death anniversary of Lokenath Brahmachari.
