Students urged to know about the life and works of Bangabandhu

RAJSHAHI, May 31, 2022 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University (RU) Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar urged the students to know about the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to become patriotic citizens of the country.

He said the new generation must follow the ideals of Bangabandhu, they should read the prison diaries and listen to the speeches of Bangabandhu minutely to materialise his dream of building a "Sonar Bangla" (golden Bangladesh).
 
The VC came up with the observation while addressing a seminar titled "Bangabandhu in Prison: The Prison Diaries" at RU campus as chief guest today.

RU's Institute of English and other Languages organized the seminar at the lecture gallery of the Engineering Faculty largely attended by teachers, researchers and students.

Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty in Dhaka University (DU) Prof Fakhrul Alam presented a keynote paper describing the events and experiences of Bangabandhu's imprisonment, particularly from 1966 to 1968.

Prof Syed Monzurul Islam from the University of Liberal Arts in Dhaka spoke as discussant.

RU Pro-vice-chancellors Prof Chowdhury Jakaria and Prof Sultanul Islam also spoke with Director of the institute Prof Abdullah Al Mamun in the chair.

VC Prof Golam Sabbir said Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in 1971 under the dynamic and farsighted leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Recalling the greatest contribution of Bangabandhu to the independence of Bangladesh, he observed that the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will stay in the minds of people as long as Bangladesh exists.
