Call for strengthening safe delivery services at UHFWCs

RANGPUR, April 21, 2022 (BSS) - Experts at an orientation workshop today called for strengthening safe delivery services at the Union Health and Family Welfare Centres (UHFWCs) to avoid avoidable cesarean delivery and reduce maternal and infant deaths.
 
They made the call at the workshop on 'Strengthening round the clock safe delivery services at the union health and family welfare centres' held at Biral upazila parishad auditorium in Dinajpur district.
 
Biral Upazila Department of Family Planning (DFP) organised the event under management of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Unit of the Directorate General of Family Planning of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
 
The Family Welfare Assistants, Family Welfare Visitors, Family Planning Inspectors, Family Planning Assistants, union chairmen and members and religious leaders participated in the event.
 
Joint Secretary (Admin) of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman attended the workshop as the chief guest.
 
With Biral Upazila Parishad Chairman AKM Mostafizur Rahman Babu in the chair, Director (MCH Services) at the Directorate General of Family Planning Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman moderated the workshop. 
 
Deputy Director (MCH Services) and Program Manager (Maternal Health) at the Directorate General of Family Planning Dr. Jahangir Alam presented a keynote essay in the workshop.
 
Biral Upazila Nirbahi Officer Most Afsana Kawser, Deputy Director of the DFP for Dinajpur Mamtaz Begum and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mokaddes addressed as special guests.
 
The speakers said the government has strengthened round-the-clock safe delivery services at UHFWCs making all modern facilities available there for conducting normal deliveries at the union level to avoid unnecessary cesarean delivery.
 
The chief guest directed field level family planning service providers to ensure normal and safe delivery utilising improved facilities at UHFWCs for further reducing maternal, neonatal and infant mortality rates.
